EGAKU®

Creative Development Program

The oldest records of human art-making can be traced back to cave paintings, many dating back over 30,000 or even 60,000 years. In the Ice Age, a time when there were no readymade art materials, a time when it was a struggle to simply survive – why were our ancestors painting pictures?

EGAKU is an art-based creative development program which emerged from artist Kunihiko Yazawa’s enquiry into the meaning of this basic human act that is art-making: Why do humans paint pictures? Why do we make art?  The program is rooted in Yazawa’s philosophy and concept of “art that emerges from dialogue, art that creates dialogue” that underlies his art practice.

Since 2002 people of all ages and walks of life have taken part in the program, including children, students, business professionals, executives and entrepreneurs. Over the years EGAKU has helped develop individuals’ creative thinking and creative communication skills – essential skills and mindsets to empower us to flourish as we navigate a complex and rapidly changing world.

Humans are creative beings, and creativity is like a muscle - the more you use it the stronger it becomes. EGAKU is a practice that will help you nurture your boundless creative potential and embark on a journey of inner growth for outer change.
